Marketers on YouTube often wonder how to get their channel icons to display from videos that they upload.

YouTube uses the center of your video content and extracts an icon image from that point in your videos to use as a channel icon.  So when you select a video from your collection it will always use that center section to display your icon image for your entire channel.

The issue that arises is that if you don’t like the icon image that YouTube automatically selects for you, then your stuck with using the preselected icon.

All you have to do is make a short 10-20 second video clip that has ONLY a single captured screenshot from any section in the video you want to use. Or you can use a screen shot from any other source. Then upload that still “video” to your YouTube account.

YouTube will always select from the center of your videos for a choice of a channel icon. So using this method your insured to have the perfect channel icon everytime because you have already pre-selected it for YouTube by making your own custom single screenshot version of the section you want to appear as your channel icon.
